Carpets and textiles described by origin, weave and wear

Rug buyers turn a carpet over before they bid. Auctionomy lets your house show the back as well as the face, and write the condition the way a specialist reads it, on your own website.

How your bidders buy

What your bidders read for

Origin, period and design type

A Heriz carpet, a Kazak rug, a Caucasian prayer rug: the weaving region and period come first, then the design of field and border.

Condition is read from both sides

Low pile, areas of wear to the foundation, reweaves, re-piling, rebound selvedges and replaced fringes are all checked from the back, and all move the price.

Size decides the buyer

Room-size carpets, runners and small rugs sell to different bidders. Accurate dimensions, usually in centimetres and feet, belong in every lot.

Catalogued your way

Every line of the entry has its place

Description, estimate, condition and provenance are separate parts of every lot on Auctionomy, and each one shows on the lot page. The entry shown here is an illustration, written the way the trade writes it.

Your sale on Auctionomy

Run the way your house runs it

Face, back and detail

Add the full face, the back, the border and any repaired area as separate images, so bidders can judge the weave without a viewing day.

Condition in your own words

Condition notes show on the lot page, so low pile and reweaves are stated plainly beside the photographs that show them.

Categories that match the trade

Group your catalogue by weaving region, by size or by textile type, and bidders filter or search it that way.

Timed sales with an extended close

A timed rug sale lets bidders work through a long catalogue at their own pace; a late bid extends the close.
