Pictures sold under your name, catalogued the way you write them

Your bidders read an attribution before they read a price. Auctionomy gives each painting, drawing and bronze a lot page that carries your wording, your estimate and your condition notes, on a website that is plainly your house.

How your bidders buy

What your bidders read for

The attribution is the lot

By, attributed to, studio of, circle of, follower of, manner of: each step moves a picture's value, and bidders read your choice of words closely. A catalogue that cannot hold that distinction is not a fine art catalogue.

Medium, size and signature come first

Oil on canvas or on panel, watercolour or gouache, dimensions to the sight or the stretcher, signed and dated where it is. These are the lines a bidder checks before asking for a condition report.

Provenance and exhibition history carry weight

A named collection, a gallery label on the reverse, an exhibition or a literature reference can decide the room. In the UK your house also accounts for the Artist's Resale Right on qualifying works by living artists and estates.

Catalogued your way

Every line of the entry has its place

Description, estimate, condition and provenance are separate parts of every lot on Auctionomy, and each one shows on the lot page. The entry shown here is an illustration, written the way the trade writes it.

Run the way your house runs it

Your attribution, word for word

Each lot has its own title and description, so 'Circle of' stays exactly where you put it. Images sit alongside, with as many views as the picture needs: recto, verso, signature, label.

Condition and provenance on the lot page

Condition notes and provenance are their own fields and show on the lot page, so the questions bidders ask most are answered before they ring you.

Estimates, reserves and your own increments

Set a low and high estimate and a reserve per lot, and bid in the increment table your house already uses. Your buyer's premium is yours to set.

Timed, live or both

Run a timed online sale that extends its close when a late bid lands, or a live sale from the rostrum with absentee bids left in advance. Live video streaming is in development.

Your trade, your house

Fluent in the trade, and unmistakably yours

Alderwick Fine Art Auctioneers is a demonstration house: fictional, built on Auctionomy to show how a house specialising in fine art looks on the platform. Its name, colours, typeface and page layout are its own, assembled from the same components every house uses. Yours would carry your name, your logo and your look, on your own domain.
